This project involved the full design and production of a bilingual (Romanian–English) painting catalog showcasing the work of artist Chifu Vasilica.
The goal for this project was to create a visually engaging and accessible publication that raises awareness of Chifu Vasilica artistic journey.
This catalog was developed as a visual and editorial showcase of the works of painter CHIFU Vasilica, with the intention of creating a print-ready publication that balances aesthetic presentation with professional layout standards.
The first step in the process was image preparation. Each photograph featured in the catalog was individually processed in Adobe Photoshop.
Adjustments were made to color tones and visual balance to ensure chromatic consistency across the catalog, while staying true to the original character of the paintings.
All images were resized according to the final page layout dimensions set for printing.
The printed format was designed to measure 30×23 cm per page, after trimming 0.5 cm from each edge for bleed.
When opened, the catalog presents a full spread of 60×23 cm, offering the viewer a wide, immersive visual experience.
The spine width was calculated at 0.90 cm, allowing proper binding without compromising the flow of imagery or text.
Once the visual assets were finalized and prepared in CMYK color mode, the layout and typography work was carried out using CorelDRAW. The software allowed flexibility and precision in aligning text, artwork.
With a total of 94 pages, the catalog includes both Romanian and English translations for accessibility and international use.
The structure of the publication includes introductory critical texts, followed by full-color reproductions of the paintings, additional commentary, sketch sections, and a closing biography.
A clear and elegant table of contents has been integrated to allow the reader to navigate intuitively through the catalog.
The aesthetic approach is minimalist and neutral, so as not to distract from the intensity and vibrancy of the featured works.
This catalog serves not only as an archive of CHIFU Vasilica’s artistic journey but also as a promotional and professional tool, ideal for galleries, exhibitions, and collectors.Â
